This is me after 2 cat vaccinations!

Man oh man! This is me a couple of hours after my cat vaccinations! I can’t get up; I can’t do much; I’m just plain “out of it!” If you have problems like me, here are a couple of suggestions.

First of all, let your vet know that these cat vaccinations really hit you hard! It’s no fun being so dragged out that you can’t even get up and go! They may be able to suggest some things that will help.

Second, get them to give you only 1 cat vaccination at a time.  The more you have, the harder it hits! (Take note of my photo up here!!)

Third, ask your vet what cat vaccinations you really need and why.  No sense taking more than you need!

And finally, your vet may try Benedryl or something similar to help your body assimilate the cat vaccinations better.  Of course, the Benedry will make you drowsy as well, but it definitly wears off sooner.  Sometimes when I”ve had 3 cat vaccinations, I’m out of it for up to 48 hours – not good for us cats, because we really shouldn’t go more than 24 hours without food or water.

Well, hope these tips will help your little darlings!  I know my servants have had to learn the hard way.  We’ve been to the cat hospital after a particularly bad reaction to the cat vaccinations.  They thought I was paralyzed because I just couldn’t make my legs hold me up! Plus, I hadn’t eaten in over 24 hours.

So, know your cat and don’t skip the cat vaccinations, just be better prepared!

I love to play “chase,” and it makes my people laugh.  I get an ”attitude” that lets them know I’m ready to play, and start arching my back and hopping sideways!  Gets them everytime!  As they come to chase me, I have my special hiding places like my Pop Open Kitty Play Cube. I can hide in it and look out to see what’s going on.  My servants back up or sneak away and hide behind furniture, then I come out, carefully stalking them and pounce!  Once they see that they’ve been found-out, it’s back to the cube for me or up the stairs to my space under a bed.

See if you can get your people to chase you! It’s lots of fun!  Just make sure they provide a great hide-outthat you can run to as your “safe spot.”

I’d recommend a few of these items:

If you live where there’s snowy weather, your cat may not be able to – or want to – go outside.  So, make sure they have some places to “hide-out” and take some time to “play!”  – Sobe’s owner (servant)

Here I am, scouting out my hunting ground...

I love it when I can get outside and hunt for mice! I love stalking them; playing with them; and, of course, the actual kill. I know, I know, it sounds gross, but it’s what us cats are made for. As soon as something moves through the grass, I’m on it! And most of the time it doesn’t stand a chance.

I have this great cat door though and I think my servants get a little miffed when I bring the mice in and chomp them down on the kitchen or living room rug! They just don’t get it – for me, it’s all about privacy and keeping my kill to myself. There are plenty of other cats out there who would love to get their grubby little claws on my mounse. So, if I can bring it inside, I eat in private!

Oh, yeah, and this is the best thing – I just got a new cat door that is somehow controlled so only I can get in! Isn’t that just the cat’s meow?!! It used to be that some of these other bold, obnoxious cats would follow me into my house and eat out my dish!! The nerve!! But now, with my new cat door, my house stays my house! It’s great!

Well, time to retire to the old nappin’ spot! Gotta catch up on my beauty sleep. I like to get in about 18 hours a day.

Yup, that's me!

Hey, guess what!?!  I just got TAKEN to the vet and they did all sorts of horrible things (like that temperature thing…) and poking and prodding!  Boy, they just don’t leave you any dignity.  Then to add insult to injury they stuck me with a very sharp instrument!  I guess it was a “rabies shot” but it didn’t feel very good.

I tried to fight it but it was no use.  They told me it “was for my own good…yeah, right!”  Well, I guess I should consider myself pretty lucky….I’m almost 12 years old and have been in pretty good health.  Maybe there is something to that vet stuff.  Still, it’s not my favorite place to go.

Hey, cat lover, this is Sobe’s servant and I just want to say how important it is to keep the vaccinations up to date.  If your cat goes outside, they should definitly have these vaccinations: rabies (you DON’T want that!); leukemia, the combo for several cat diseases and any other ones that your vet recommends.

Queen of the jungle!

I know it’s a bit costly to go to the vet and keep these up, but if you love your pet, it’s worth it to keep them healthy.  We do let Sobe roam freely during the day and she feels like she is queen of the jungle, but at night, we make sure she’s inside and safe.

We always make sure she has a warm, snuggly cat bedplenty of good, healthy cat foodand even some toysto play with! What more could a cat ask for?!!  Show your baby you love ‘em and take good care - talk to you next time!

My cousins, Boogie and Lily get all different kinds of food. For one, Lily is a little (actually a lot) overweight so she is supposed to eat only “diet” food. Yuck! But if it helps her lose some weight, well, go for it! But, for heaven’s sake, feed her some food she really likes once in awhile!

Boogie has this major problem with throwing up all the time and now he’s developed some kidney problems. Hmmmm, so I guess giving him “grain-free” food helps so he doesn’t throw up so much and he also gets something for his kidneys! Sheeeesh!

Sobe Cat

Well, my two cousins are staying at my house for a week while their people travel to sunny Miami and the Keys. Why didn’t they take these 2 along with them? It keeps me on my toes, wondering where Lilly is and if – and – when, she might strike! Boogie can be sooo touchy at times. But, I guess about the time their servants come back, we’ll be gettin’ along and having a good time (well, me and Boogie anyway).

Today was soooo cold out and there’s still snow on the ground. It makes it tough for a cat like me to go outside and stay out for very long! I much prefer sleeping in a heated cat bedor climbing around on a multi-level cat tree

Well, I can’t help but wonder what I’m getting for Christmas. It’s not true you know – that cat’s don’t care about Christmas. We do! We love getting presents! So bring on the cute cat toys

Sobe says she’s observed these tips for keeping your cat in top condition:

• Watch what you feed your cat! Many of the cat foods contain a lot of additives that make them fat. Choose a cat foodthat builds up their body but doesn’t make them fat.
• Make them exercise! Cats who lay around too much become fat and that leads to other troubles. Cats get arthritis, heart problems and lose their ability to run and jump.
• Make sure indoor cats have enough things to play on.  A cat treecan help them stay in shape while having fun.
• A window perchmakes a good place to see what’s outside plus providing another play area.
• Take some time to play with your cat and use cat toys  We’ve always enjoyed the Swizzle Bird
  with Sobe!  She loves to jump and chase it around.

A few precautions will keep your cat healthy and in shape for a long time!  A healthy cat is a happy cat!
